In October, when I started writing for Savvy Source, I posted about 25 things you should do with your kids before they grow up in New Jersey. I've gotten some great feedback on this post, and comment love is very motivational, I'm now back with 75 more ideas for a grand total of 100 Things You Should Do with your Kids in New Jersey Before They Grow up! - Do arts and crafts at the Crayola Factory
- Tour the Statue of Liberty
- Visit the Liberty Science Center
- Get Slimed at Nickelodeon Studios
- Splash Around at Sesame Place
- Run in the family fun race down the shore at the NJ Marathon in early May.
- Take the kids carolling through the neighborhood.
- Pick apples and pumpkins at Demarest Farms in the fall.

Lion King vs. Mamma Mia on Broadway

I love to take the kids to see Broadway shows. We're so close to the City and seeing a Broadway show is the ultimate entertainment. There's nothing like hearing the voices of these incredibly talented performers fill the theater. Although tickets are way expensive, the price is comparable to what you would be spending on what is billed as "traditional" children's entertainment like Disney on Ice or Thomas the Train shows. Plus there are great deals to be had right now.
A few weeks ago, I took the kids to see Mamma Mia on Broadway. I was nervous that the show would be too adult for them, but they were completely caught up in the music. The fun atmosphere is so contagious, it seems to be ageless. I got a few questions about how someone can not know who their father is, or how three different men can be someone's father, but they didn't get too hung me on those details. They were too busy asking me to play the soundtrack, over and over again, shouting "That's the name of the game!" at the top of their voices.
